To be considered at the next Selection Meeting, your completed application and any required supporting information must be received by the published deadline for your Selection Cycle. Applications received after the deadline may be held for the following cycle.

Not necessarily. Minimum Consideration Standards apply to relevant Performance Programme events and tiers; they are not used as a stand-alone entry standard for the Development Programme. Athletes may still submit an application where they have not yet achieved an applicable MCS, although achieving the standard will normally be required for consideration for the Performance Programme tier to which it applies. Meeting an MCS does not guarantee selection.

Provide the information requested within the application form, including your shooting experience, training, coaching and development goals. Competition results should be included where available and relevant. For Development applicants, limited competition evidence will not automatically prevent an athlete from progressing to assessment; for Performance applicants, official results and other recognised performance evidence may be required under the relevant Selection Policy.

You will be asked to nominate a primary event. This will normally determine the Selection Cycle under which you are considered, although your experience and performances across other events may also be relevant. World Class Programme athletes are considered through the Winter Selection Cycle regardless of event.

No. STS membership is not required when you submit your application. If selected, you will need to obtain and maintain the membership required by your Programme and complete the relevant Athlete Agreement and induction.

Possibly. Depending on your Programme, discipline, experience and the evidence available, STS may invite you to an interview, practical or coached assessment, training activity or other appropriate selection activity.

No. Programme selection does not automatically guarantee financial support or access to every available service. The support provided will depend on the Programme, athlete need, available resources and the delivery model for the relevant discipline.

Selection and review will normally operate annually within the athlete’s assigned Selection Cycle. Arrangements may differ for new or transitional selections; for example, Summer Cycle athletes selected in January 2027 will initially be considered again in July 2027. Any Programme-specific provisional or review arrangements will be communicated as part of the selection outcome.

You will be notified of the outcome in writing. Where appropriate, STS may provide reasons, development feedback or actions that could support a future application. Development selection policy specifically provides for written notification within five working days, with development feedback where appropriate.
