2024 GB Junior International
Day 4 : Thursday 8th August Report
A 10 for everyone this morning!
This was the last day of competition and five of our shooters were shooting on the 10am detail upstairs in the 10m range, then Emilia at 12.15. For a change, the temperature in the range was quite pleasant!
As the photographs show, everyone shot a 10 – although maybe not as often as they would have liked! Despite that, Finlay qualified for the Men’s final, finishing in 7th place with some excellent 10s. Both Isobel and Emilia qualified for the Women’s final. Isobel also took 7th place and Emilia took 3rd place. The STS team of Gemma, Isobel and Emilia were second in the Women’s Air pistol team competition.
Not everyone can be placed in a team of three or a mixed pair from their own organisation, so there are ‘JI’ teams made up from these shooters. STS only had two men, so both Finlay and Bruce made up threesomes in different teams – and Bruce’s team won the Silver medal!
We’ve got next year’s JI men’s team sorted though – Thys Fourie has agreed to join us!!
That ended four days of shooting competitions and a lot of fun. Many things were learned and there could be one or two points to work on! The weather conditions varied as expected, but there were no disasters- either from the shooters or the electronics!
My thanks to all the shooters and their parents and Kirsty the Coach for all the work that they’ve done, both in the lead-up to the JI and during the event itself.
It usually goes without saying, but I think it’s appreciated if we do – ‘Thank you’ – to Sharon and all the range staff, café staff and tech support. Till the next time!
Happy days!
