Congratulations to the Scottish Shooters who have been named by British Shooting in the Rifle and Pistol teams selected for the upcoming World Cup in Munich.*
The event runs from the 23rd of May until the 30th of May and will provide a fantastic opportunity for the athletes to make their mark in the shooting world.
Jennifer McIntosh, who will represent Team GB at Rio 2016 has been selected in the team and is joined by a mix experienced and young shooters.
Rifle Coach, Donald McIntosh is looking forward to the event in Munich. He said: “Munich is the only World Cup close to home this year, so we have selected a relatively large team compared to the others. For Jen it is very much part of her preparations for the Olympics.
“We have some other highly experienced athletes in the team, like Ken Parr and Neil Stirton, who have the ability to qualify for their respective finals, so this is one of the major competitions in their 2016 programme.
“For the remainder of the team, they have all performed well recent domestic and minor international matches and this World Cup is an opportunity for them to gain experience in a much bigger and tougher environment - the entry levels in Munich are always the highest of the year, so it is really tough to qualify for finals and win medals. In many ways, this is the start of the push to Tokyo for many of these athletes".
Despite the tough competition, McIntosh has high hopes for the athletes that will compete in Munich.
“I'm looking for athletes to perform at, or close to, their best in on what is one of the world’s best shooting ranges.”
