3P GP2 at Denwood on Saturday 27th May
The weekend started at the Denwood range. There was a good entry for the 3P event, 7 men and 6 women, with this being Tom Diggle's first 3P competition. There were several personal bests in the qualification phase including a 588 x600 for Seonaid McIntosh.
The women's final saw Seonaid McIntosh shoot a 450.9 to take first place. In the men's final, Neil Stirton took first place with a score of 449.2, which is a new Scottish record and the first record of the weekend.
With the final's over, the "road crew" got to work and we were off to Gagie, near Dundee. (Thank you very much to all who helped moving the targets).
Prone GP2 at Gagie on Sunday 28th May
Sunday proved to be another good day and it seemed to bring out the best out in everyone. We had 38 entries, including a strong showing from Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man.
The C and D final was won by Tom Diggle and he currently leads the points table with 2 wins. The A and B class qualification then followed and Seonaid McIntosh qualified with a score of 625.6, which is a new British record, the second record of the weekend.
The final got underway about 45 minutes later, and it was very intense, with regular ties but no shoot off's. As we got down to deciding the medals there was a tie for 1st place and only 0.1 difference back to 3rd place. The result was 1st for Ruaraidh McLeod, 2nd for Neil Stirton and 3rd Gary Duff. This tight final resulted in a new Scottish finals record for Ruaraidh McLeod with a score of 248.6. The 3rd record of the weekend. Ruaraidh is currently leading the points table for the 2017 50m Prone series.
A great weekend of shooting and many thanks to all who helped with the organisation.
