Scottish Target Shooting had three juniors pistol shooters shooting at NSRA Pistol National Championships, Kyla Dodd, Kerstin Dodd and Amelia Faulkner. The event was held at Bisley on Friday, 13 – Sunday, 15 April 2018.
They are all members of the Pistol Development Squad and they have proved to be very competent Air Pistol competitors. They are producing scores which are impressively consistent and at the top end of their range. Kyla Dodd put up a 547 on her the Friday competition and her sister Kerstin put up a 547 on Sunday. Amelia Faulkner, the youngest of the three at 14 years, old scored a 541 on Friday, only one point below her PB.
With that sort of pedigree, they are pushing our junior squad performance to the top of the GB pile. So, it proved to be. The International competition was shot concurrently with the Individual Championship on Sunday. The scoring system was showing Kerstin as the highest Junior and in second place amongst the full female field.
They are all three, intense performers and use the time to the limit, with their last shots going in during the last minutes. They are young, very capable girls and they pulled off the win with a considerable margin, with Wales second and England third.
The NSRA is working on the future development of this event with Rifle and Pistol performing together. This shoot was well attended with the upstairs hall in use, end to end, on each relay.
The girls won individual awards in their class divisions, and medals will be forwarded to them at a later date.
