Seonaid McIntosh Announced in Team GB for Paris 2024

Scottish Target Shooting are proud and delighted at the news published by Team GB yesterday (Friday 28 June) that Seonaid McIntosh has been selected to compete for Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This will be Seonaid’s second Olympic Games and she has been selected to shoot in the 10m Air Rifle, 50m Rifle 3P and 10m Mixed Team competitions.

Seonaid fully deserves her place as one of 6 shooters selected to Team GB after a superb 18 months in the build up to the games, that start on Friday 26 July.

STS wishes Seonaid, and her father and coach Donald McIntosh all the best for Paris - you have already done us proud!

To summarise some of Seonaid’s recent successes that have led to her selection:

  • Seonaid picked up a Bronze medal as part of a 3-woman air rifle team at the ISSF Grand Prix in Ruse, Slovakia. From there, she kicked on and in February 2023 she became the first British athlete, male or female, to ever win Gold in an ISSF Air Rifle event when competing at the World Cup in Cairo.

  • Seonaid then followed up this history-making achievement in March 2023 by winning a silver medal at the European Championships, also in air rifle, losing narrowly in the final but securing Team GB a quota place for Paris 2024.

  • She then travelled to the ISSF World Cup in Baku (Azerbaijan) in May where she won a Gold medal in the women’s 3-Position Rifle event and set a new World Record for a score achieved in the final.

  • This makes Seonaid a double current world record holder (adding to her the record she jointly holds for highest score in the 300m Women’s Prone Rifle).

  • Her success in 2023 also included a bronze medal in Women’s 3-Positions at the European Games, set new personal bests.

  • In 2024 Seonaid has dominated Womens 50m Rifle 3P winning 3 Individual Golds at World Cups in Cairo, Munich and Baku

  • At the time of writing this Seonaid is World No 1 in 50m Rifle 3P!

  • To be world class in one event is amazing but in 2023 Seonaid has gold medal success and been world class in two events, which is phenomenal!
