Scottish Target Shooting is pleased to announce the team that will be representing Scotland at the 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships taking place in Brisbane at the Belmont Shooting Complex from 30 October to 7 November. Team Scotland has revealed an exciting five-day programme of events and celebrations which will be held around the country, to mark the visit of the Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) on its global tour, ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia. British Shooting are running an ISSF Academy D Course for Rifle and Pistol Coaches in Henley on 18-20 August 2017. The course lecturers will be Donald McIntosh (Rifle) and Paul Taylor (Pistol). The deadline for applications is Friday 14 July. The course fee will be £160 per person. With recent media attention on safeguarding in sport sportscotland, Disclosure Scotland, Volunteer Scotland and Children 1st are conducting a survey to identify the knowledge and awareness of safeguarding in sport. Scottish Target Shooting fully supports this pieces of work as it will positively influence safeguarding training and support for those working with children and ultimately help to protect children in our sport.
Members from the Scottish Target Shooting Pistol Squad continued their attendance at some of the top European events, competing in Pilsen and then travelling on to Hannover. The squad continued to fly the flag strongly for Scotland with some excellent shooting, including new PBs as well as Gold Coast and Senior GB squad qualifying scores by a few athletes.

Hot on the heels of some excellent results at the Grand Prix of Liberation in Pilsen last week, ten Scottish athletes competed at the ISCH Rifle & Pistol competition in Hannover this week.

An eight-strong team of Scottish athletes competed at the Grand Prix of Liberation in Pilsen, CZE, last week, with two further Scots in attendance as part of a team from British Shooting. Held annually as part of the celebrations to commemorate the liberation of the city from Nazi occupation by US forces at the end of the Second World War, this event always attracts a substantial and very high standard of entry from teams across Europe and beyond
British Shooting has this week announced the official launch of 'Project Pistol' which aims to unearth future Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls for 2024 and beyond. The Project will be targeting individuals with potential to join an exciting Talent Pathway to provide shooters the opportunity to develop into World Class Air Pistol shooters.
The majority of the High Performance Rifle Squad made the trip to the Isle of Man for the annual Easter Festival taking place over 14 – 16 April 2017. Registered as a British Shooting selection event for both 10m and 50m Rifle, the Air Rifle events were conducted on electronic targets for the first time with the assistance of STS, with Gavin Walker driving a van-load of our Megalink units over and running the range for the two days of the Air Rifle and Air Pistol events.
Scottish Target Shooting will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 3rd June 2017 at 1.30pm. The location and programme is currently being finalised and will be released shortly.
We are now seeking nominations from the membership - it is possible to self-nominate or for a nomination be made by someone else, as long as the nominee's permission has been obtained.
West Atholl Rifle Club assisted by Blair Atholl Gun Club and Blair Atholl Small-bore Rifle Club will again be hosting the Scottish Multi-discipline Shooting Championships at the Jubilee Range, Blair Atholl on 14th May, 2017.
Competitors will be ranked in each event and the rankings added together to determine the overall winner and team winners. The event will not be squadded so competitors may choose when to shoot each event between 9.30 and 3.30. Depending on entries some events may close earlier.
The day will be an official “guest day” for both West Atholl Rifle Club and Blair Atholl Small-bore Rifle Clubs which will allow competitors without their own rifles to use club rifles under one to one supervision.
